Ever heard of the National Single Window System (NSWS)?

It’s a unique one-stop digital platform under the control of Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry. It is a portal, where you can get all your necessary approvals without hopping between different ministry websites. The Government of India, with its aim of easing business procedures and making India more digitally advance announced this initiative and thereby, the portal will now host applications for approvals from 31 Central Government Departments and 22 State Governments. Now, the incorporation service can be availed from both the NSWS portal and the MCA21 portal. This is one of the many steps that the Government of India has taken in order to ensure that the business owners do not have to run pillar to post to obtain approvals, registrations and licenses.

What are the other key features?

Along with the application facility, this portal will also aim at providing guidance on the requirements of the application and make the business owner or user aware about the licenses he actually requires for the purpose he visited the portal. They also have the facility on the portal to make the public aware about the schemes and promotions that the Government is running for the benefit of the business owners. They have a unique questionnaire in place, which is to be answered by the user, before applying for the applications. This questionnaire mainly pertains to the kind of operation the business owner is planning to run, including but not limited to employees, investments, registrations, etc. Thereafter, the portal will provide a suggestion of approvals that the business owner might require in order to run its entity. The business owners can pay the application fees required by the Ministries through the portal itself.

In simple terms, now company and LLP incorporation application can be filed either through MCA or NSWS portal. If you choose NSWS, your application will be forwarded to MCA for further processing. The process of the Ministry itself won’t change but now you will have a single portal for applying and monitoring your application status.

Benefits of the integration:

  1. Guidance system will ensure better awareness about the registrations required;
  2. One place for all your applications, will ensure that the administrative cost associated with applying to different ministries is reduced;
  3. More awareness, more ease, higher percentage of compliance;
  4. Easier to conduct business, more opportunities for new entrepreneurs to work.
